Taharoa’s operation differs from conventional hard-rock mining. The process is mechanical and water-based, with no blasting, chemical leaching, or tailings dam. Process water is treated and recirculated throughout the operation.
Rehabilitation
Mining areas are progressively rehabilitated as extraction moves forward, with revegetation supporting land recovery.
The process
Our process is as simple as water and sand in, water and sand out. We use water to separate the valuable iron-bearing material from the sand, without the need for complex chemical processing.
