Restoring the land after mining
Environmental management is built into day-to-day operations. Taharoa is among the lowest impact iron mines in the world, with emissions around one-third those of mines with equivalent export volume.

Operating through responsible processes
Our process differs from conventional hard-rock mining. It is mechanical and water-based, with no blasting, chemical leaching or tailings dam. Process water is treated and recirculated throughout the operation.

Managing resources for the future
Mining areas are progressively rehabilitated as extraction advances, with revegetation beginning soon after mining to manage dust, reduce erosion and support land recovery.
